  The Coastal Reopening Ride: Half Moon Bay to Big Sur

  Celebrate the reopening of Highway 1 with an epic 185-mile journey down the California coast.

  After three long years of waiting, the full stretch of Highway 1 is finally open! Join us for a day of technical coastal range twisties, world-class views, and the best tri-tip on the coast. This is a spirited 6-hour ride (including stops) designed for prepared riders who love the Pacific breeze and winding tarmac.

  Member sign up opens Jan 18. Initiate member signup opens Jan 25. This is a popular event so please cancel if your plans change to avoid a no show fee.

  We have booked the Plaskeet Creek Group Site for two days. February 20 to 22.  The Club ride is Saturday, Feb 21.  

  The Schedule

  • 08:00 AM: Meet for breakfast at Pilot Light, in Half Moon Bay on Saturday with a full tank of gas and enjoy a great meal and conversation with the crew before we head out.

  • ️The Route

    We’ll head south, primarily hugging Highway 1, with several strategic offshoots into the Coastal Range to hit those legendary motorcycling roads.

    • Mid-Way Stop: We’re stopping at the famous Freedom Meat Locker. Grab a quick lunch and pack some of their iconic sausage or tri-tip for your dinner tonight. (Note: If you need other supplies, there is a Safeway right around the corner).

    • Fuel Strategy: We will stop for a gas top-off in Carmel to ensure everyone has a full tank before we hit the newly reopened stretch through Big Sur.

    • The View: If the coastal fog behaves and the skies are clear, we’ll make a special stop at Nepenthe for one of the most iconic vistas in California.

  To keep the group moving and safe, please ensure you arrive with:

  1. A Full Tank: Start with a full load of fuel at Pilot Light.

  2. Navigation Ready: Have the GPS routes loaded and functional on your device.

  3. Route Knowledge: Review the map beforehand so you are familiar with the turns and stops.

  Duration: Approx. 6 Hours with breaks and lunch

  ️The Annual Death Valley Trek: March 2026

  Four days. One vast desert. Endless ways to get lost (and found).

  It’s time for our annual pilgrimage to the lowest, hottest, and driest place in North America. Because of the massive distance and varying riding styles in our group, there is no organized group ride to the park. Instead, this is your chance to grab a few fellow members, map out your own epic route, and meet us at the camp for four nights under the brightest stars in California.

  ⛺ The Basecamp

  • Dates: Thursday, March 26 – Sunday, March 29 (Check out by 12:00 PM)

  • Location: Furnace Creek Campground – Group Tent Walk-in Loop (Nonelectric)
    We have reserved THREE group sites:
    • Group Site 1: March 26-29
    • Group Site 2: March 27-29 (available Friday)
    • Group Site 3: March 26-29
    Check-in: 1:00 PM

  • The Vibe: Arrival times will vary. Set up your gear, crack a cold one, and join the nightly campfire to swap stories from the road.

  ️ Organize Your Adventure

  Whether you’re slab-hunting on a touring bike or seeking out dusty "shortcuts" on a GS, the journey is yours to build. Reach out to your riding buddies now to coordinate departure times and routes.

  Things to Do & See

  While we’re based in Furnace Creek, the entire park is your playground. Here are a few must-do’s for your weekend:

  • The Artist’s Palette: A 9-mile one-way paved loop through hills that look like they’ve been spray-painted in pastel pinks and greens.

  • Badwater Basin: Stand at 282 feet below sea level. It’s a surreal walk out onto the salt flats.

  • Dante’s View: A steep, winding climb to 5,500 feet for a bird’s-eye view of the entire valley floor.

  • Zabriskie Point: The absolute best spot for sunrise. The "badlands" glow gold and orange as the sun hits the peaks.

  • The Furnace Creek "Oasis": Stop by the Ranch for a burger, hit the world's lowest-elevation golf course, or grab a photo with the giant thermometer at the Visitor Center.

  • The Dark Sky Festival: Keep an eye out—late March often aligns with the park's Dark Sky events. The stargazing here is world-class.

  ⚠️ Pro-Tips for the Desert

  • Get your Pass online. You can now purchase an annual park pass online and store the card on your Iphone. No more searching for your pass.

  • Hydrate or Die: It might be March, but the desert air is bone-dry. Carry more water than you think you need.

  • Layers: Expect 80°F days and 45°F nights. Pack for both!

  Old West Camping Near Carrizo Plain

  Friday, April 24 – Sunday, April 26, 2026

  Join BMW NorCal for a fantastic weekend at one of the club's favorite destinations—Songdog Ranch! Located just south of the Carrizo Plain, this venue offers authentic old-west-style camping and a perfect escape for moto adventurers.

  We've booked the campground for two nights, so saddle up and make the trek down for a weekend of great riding, good company, and wide-open skies.

  The Route

  We'll take the scenic way down through the Central Valley's best backroads, avoiding the freeway and soaking in the California ranch country.

  Route Highlights:

  • Hollister & Paicines – Rolling hills through wine country
  • Old Coalinga Road – Classic California backroad riding
  • Coalinga – Gas and quick lunch stop
  • Highway 33 – One of California's great moto roads through the oil fields
  • Taft – Final stop for provisions before the ranch
  • Songdog Ranch – Our old-west basecamp

  Note: There is a short dirt road to reach the campsite at the top of the plain. All bikes can make it, but if you're hesitant, there will likely be someone who can ride your bike up the hill for you.

  BMW NorCal Annual Oktoberfest Ride & Feast

  Dust off your lederhosen and find your dirndls—it’s time for the legendary BMW NorCal Oktoberfest! After a few years at the Manchester KOA, we are heading back to the familiar grounds of the Codorniz Recreation Area for a celebration of riding, community, and world-class DIY German cuisine. This year, the "Chefs of BMW NorCal" are taking over the kitchen to bring you a feast that rivals any biergarten in Munich.

  Get ready for our final group campout of the year! We're heading to the magnificent Gray Pine Group Site at the edge of the Mendocino National Forest. This is a fantastic spot to enjoy the crisp December air, great company, and some of the best twisties Northern California has to offer.

  🛴 The Route

  We'll kick things off with breakfast at Mimi's Cafe (1650 Gateway Blvd, Fairfield) and a short rider briefing before heading north. Our route covers roughly 180 miles of premium motorcycle roads, taking about 6 hours including breaks.

  Route Highlights:

  • ✓ Lake Berryessa & Napa Valley: Classic NorCal riding with great elevation changes
  • ✓ Highway 29: The climb up and over to Clear Lake – a rider favorite
  • ✓ Highway 20 & Backroads: Scenic route into Stonyford to our wilderness camp
