This campout will take the club to new heights, 10,000 feet, to be exact, near the crest of the Sierra Nevada just over Tioga Pass. Now being this high in September can be interesting in the Sierra. We can get high temps and sunburns, or overnight frost. That's part of the adventure. But don't worry, we will be paying careful attention to the weather leading up to this campout. What we can guarantee is great riding and stunning views.
The ride starts at Country Waffles in Livermore - at the Holmes St location, not Northfront Rd., breakfast at 8, leaving at 9.
Remember to gas up before you arrive at breakfast so we can get on it right after breakfast.
Lunch and market stop will be at Bridgeport.
Added to this ride, Kevin Coleman will be leading an alternate GS ride that includes a forest section bypassing Sonora and a loop out to historic Bodie State Park, an awesome ghost town outside Bridgeport. This will be a fun GS ride but will add time to the ride so plan on showing up 1/2 hour earlier to the breakfast. See the .gpx file and the 2nd REVER route below.
Note: the last 2 miles to the campsite are partially paved.
