49'er Rally 2017 Schedule
This year marks the 40th anniversary of the San Francisco Marathon, an iconic race that attracts 27,000 participants! Each year, the San Francisco Marathon reaches out to motorcycle riders across Northern California to serve as course monitors, for intersections and traffic guidance along the route, and for road closures.
These monitors act as security for runners along the course, provide spectator crowd control, and minimize conflicts with public transit and/or vehicle traffic across the road closures. Each volunteer will be stationed at an intersection for approximately 4-6 hours, starting around 5am-6am on Sunday, July 23rd. As a thank you for your time, each volunteer will receive a 2017 San Francisco Marathon Course Monitor Pin as well as a donation of $90, which we want to donate to the MOA Foundation ("advancing rider safety, education and training”).
Last year’s volunteers from our club had a great experience. We are hoping to recruit volunteers for various positions from the BMW NorCal members. For those who are interested, please sign up here by June 1, 2017. Instructions and materials regarding each assignment will be provided to each participant by Friday, June 9th.
The Mariposa County Fairgrounds has four new framed canvas tents for rental from Sweet Water Bungalows. Each have queen bed, mini fridge, and electric. The price is $110 per night. For reservations or to learn more, contact the fairgrounds at (209) 966-2432. Reservations are books directly through the fairgrounds.
If you are new to riding with us or in groups or just want a safety refresher, check out our Group Riding Guidelines and Common Hand Signals on the Safety page of our website!
Fantastic attendance and everyone learned a bunch at the Annual Tech Day at Greg Hutchinson's shop Airhead Adventures in Redwood City, January 21, 2017. Check out this amazing video from our long time club member Richard Klain!

We made a change to the member meeting and campout schedule for January and February. In January, we will be headed to Arroyo Seco in Greenfield, California. In February, we will be in Bothe-Napa, just outside of Calistoga. Events for these two months are correctly listed in the Events page of the website so register early and often and we hope to see you at both of these events in January and February!
